Required equipment: Turkey Fryer, Steamer Basket, Peanut oil.
CAUTION: When using a Turkey Fryer be CAREFUL when lowering the meat into the fryer and do it SLOWLY as to keep from spilling or splashing the oil. Also use the amount of oil necessary to cover the ham but not too much to spill over when the ham is placed in the oil (oil level will rise when the ham is placed in the fryer).
Preheat turkey fryer to 350 – 375 degrees f
If ham is frozen, thaw completely and pat dry to remove excess moisture. If marinating is desired, inject marinade into 10 to 15 holes in the ham.
Oil temperature will fall when the ham is placed in the fryer but don’t worry, watch and adjust temperature and cooking time as necessary. The rule of thumb is 3 to 4 minutes per pound of meat.
